TRANSACTIONS of about RM25 million are expected to be done via the Malaysia Digital Enterprise Exchange (MDEX) by year-end, backed by an aggressive marketing, promotions and sales efforts of ManagePay Systems Bhd. MDEX, a national ICT (information communication technology) initiative of the Multimedia Development Corp (MDeC) and SME Corp, was established last year to help Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) move online. ManagePay Systems chief executive officer Chew Chee Seng said the MDEX National Tour 2011 would be organised from July onwards to reach more SMEs nationwide. "To date, 3,300 SMEs have registered with MDEX and this number is expected to grow to 8,000 by year-end," he told reporters at a media briefing in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. Chew said 20 new Private Label Portals based on a community- based approach will be created this year to widen the visibility of the SMEs registered under MDEX. - Bernama |
